15-Year-Old Fatally Struck by Car in Strasbourg; Suspect in Custody

A 19-year-old man turned himself in following a New Year’s accident that killed teenager Rayan Bezzari in the Cité de l’Ill neighborhood.

Rayan Bezzari, a 15-year-old boy, was fatally struck by a car in Strasbourg early on New Year's Day while walking after being dropped off by his cousin.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle, a black Renault Clio, was traveling at high speed and did not slow down or stop after hitting the teenager.
The suspect, a 19-year-old man from the local neighborhood, turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday evening and is now in police custody under suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and hit-and-run.
The victim was transported to the hospital with critical injuries but later succumbed to his wounds, with medical professionals indicating his injuries were unsurvivable.
Family members described Rayan as a well-behaved teenager aspiring to work in the restaurant industry, leaving them devastated by the loss.
