Overview

• Delaware State Police say the crash occurred around 4 p.m. Friday as a school bus turned from West Lebanon Road onto Royal Grant Way.
• The e-bike, operated by a 16-year-old with a 14-year-old passenger, struck the passenger side of the bus after riding through a cyclist stop sign.
• The 14-year-old was taken to a hospital and died, and the 16-year-old remains hospitalized with severe injuries.
• Neither teen was wearing a helmet; the 75-year-old bus driver and 21 Caesar Rodney School District students on board were not injured.
• The Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit closed the area for about four hours, the investigation continues with a call for witnesses, and the district says counseling will be available for students and staff.
