14-year-old Knox MacEwen, a JROTC student from Western High School in Davie, Florida, collapsed and died after finishing a 5K race organized by the U.S. Army JROTC at Everglades High School.
Upon the medical emergency during the race, the police were summoned to the site and found Knox experiencing cardiac arrest. Efforts to save him at the Miramar Hospital were unsuccessful.
As the cause of the cardiac arrest remains unidentified, police are carrying out an investigation into the tragic event.
