14-Month-Old Boy Killed by SUV in Delhi’s Samaypur Badli as Police Arrest Driver

Investigators are examining whether an evasive turn on a narrow, congested lane contributed to the crash.

Overview

  • The collision occurred around 4 pm on Sunday near Balaji Nursery on Siras Pur Road in the Raja Vihar area of Samaypur Badli.
  • The child was with his mother at the roadside, suffered grievous injuries, and was declared dead at Burari Hospital.
  • Police identified the driver as 20-year-old Samar Choudhary of Rohini, arrested him, and seized the SUV.
  • A case has been registered at Samaypur Badli police station under BNS sections 281 for rash driving and 106(1) for causing death by negligence.
  • Preliminary findings say the SUV allegedly veered while giving way to a truck, with multiple car-wash and servicing units narrowing the lane; the family includes three other children, one differently abled.
