Overview

• All 14 defendants convicted in the April 24, 2022, Donalsonville event received prison terms totaling 343 months for dogfighting and related charges.
• The court ordered restitution to cover care costs for the 78 pit bull–type dogs rescued during the probe.
• A 911 call interrupted the original dogfighting event, prompting officers to rescue 27 injured dogs and later recover 51 more under spring search warrants.
• Seized cellphones provided videos, photos and text chains documenting organized dogfighting and led to the seizure of methamphetamine.
• The investigation was led by USDA–OIG agents alongside the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia and supported by local sheriffs in Georgia and Florida.
