14 Maoists Killed in Twin Encounters in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar

Officials describe the DRG-led raids as part of an intelligence-driven campaign targeting an end to Maoist violence by March 31, 2026.

Overview

  • Twelve militants were killed in Sukma and two in Bijapur after pre-dawn operations that began around 5 a.m. in Bijapur and about 8 a.m. in Sukma, police said.
  • Those killed include Sachin Mangdu, the Konta area committee secretary, and Hunga Madkam, with authorities continuing to verify the identities of others.
  • Security forces recovered a cache of arms from the sites, including AK-47, INSAS and self-loading rifles, along with other materials.
  • No injuries to security personnel were reported as combing continues in forested areas and officials withhold precise locations and force strength for safety.
  • Police say the Sukma action largely neutralised the Konta area committee, reflecting intensified operations after heavy 2025 attrition and ongoing efforts under Operation Sankalp.
