Overview

• On June 3 at around 7:30 pm, 13-year-old Taylor White accidentally set her bedroom ablaze by covering a tealight under her blanket.
• Taylor fled downstairs in a dressing gown and called her mother, Tara White, who returned from shopping at Asda to find smoke and flames pouring from the house.
• Leon, Tara’s partner’s son, rescued the family dog Lucky from the smouldering ground floor just before South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived.
• The blaze completely destroyed Taylor’s room and caused smoke, ash, and water damage throughout the rest of the house.
• Tara has launched a GoFundMe campaign and neighbours have donated clothes and essentials to help replace the family’s lost belongings.
