13-Year-Old Utah Boy Dies in Tragic Tetherball Accident at Family-Owned Corn Maze; No Foul Play Suspected
Tragic incident occurred as Maximus Knight helped clean family's corn maze and the state medical examiner's office now investigating his death while a GoFundMe campaign raises over $21,000 for medical and funeral costs.
- Maximus Knight, a 13-year-old from Utah, tragically died after being found unresponsive with a tetherball rope wrapped around his neck in his family’s corn maze, Knights Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, in Venice, Utah.
- Maximus was working with his family to clean the corn maze when he went missing. After a brief search, he was found with the tetherball rope around his neck, not breathing and without a pulse.
- Emergency responders were able to restore Maximus's pulse at the scene and he was hurriedly transported to a hospital. However, Maximus later passed away at the hospital.
- Sevier County Sheriff’s Office declared that there was no indication of foul play or suspicious activity, indicating this was likely a horrific accident. The boy’s death is currently under investigation by the state medical examiner’s office.
- A GoFundMe campaign, set up by Maximus's aunt Laurie Ann Thor, has collected more than $21,000 to help cover the cost of his emergency medical care and funeral services. Maximus was described in the campaign as a 'beautiful, sweet and loving child' who brought great joy to his family.
