13-Year-Old South Carolina Girl Rescued in Florida; Kidnapper Arrested

The teen was kidnapped by a Wisconsin man she met online over a year ago, sparking a multi-state law enforcement effort.

A 13-year-old girl from South Carolina was rescued in Florida after being kidnapped by a 35-year-old man from Wisconsin.
The girl, identified as Paytton Cruz, was reported missing from her home in Simpsonville, S.C., before being found in a Key Largo shopping center parking lot.
Tyler Michael Berlick, the kidnapper, met Cruz through an online chat and gaming app over a year ago.
Berlick was arrested and is awaiting extradition to South Carolina; the FBI is leading the investigation.
The teen indicated she wanted to harm herself and is receiving mental health services from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
