13-year-old boy fatally shot in Joliet alley on Monday afternoon

Police are appealing for community tips to identify the shooter, with no suspect currently in custody.

  • Officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 300 block of Desplaines Street just before 4:45 p.m. Monday and found the 13-year-old boy shot multiple times in a back alley.
  • The Will County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene, and officials have not yet released his name.
  • Joliet police say the circumstances and motive remain under investigation and no one is in custody as of Tuesday morning.
