12-Year-Old Boy Tragically Killed by Falling Tree in New Jersey Backyard

Lucas Schwartz was playing with a friend when gusty winds caused a tree to fall, resulting in fatal injuries.

The incident occurred around noon on Monday in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, when a tree was blown over by gusty winds.
Lucas Schwartz, a 7th grader at Lawrence Middle School, was playing in his backyard at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders freed Schwartz from under the tree and administered CPR before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Lawrence Township School District is providing grief counselors, therapy dogs, and support from the Mercer County Traumatic Loss Coalition to help students and staff cope.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Schwartz's family, with donations exceeding $13,000 as of October 15.
