115-Year-Old Tomiko Itooka Becomes Japan's Oldest Person
Itooka assumes the title following the death of previous record-holder Fusa Tatsumi at age 116.

- Tomiko Itooka was born on May 23, 1908, in Osaka and is the eldest of three siblings.
- Fusa Tatsumi was born on April 25, 1907, in what is now known as Yao City, Osaka Prefecture, and had three children, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
- Itooka, who now resides in a nursing home, enjoys sweets and drinking the probiotic beverage Calpis.
