11-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Hit by Barcelona City Bus on Gran Via

Authorities have opened a traffic investigation into the collision.

Overview

  • The collision occurred around 5 p.m. Sunday in front of 595 Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes in the Eixample district.
  • The vehicle was a Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona bus on line H12 serving the Gornal–Besòs Verneda route.
  • Medical teams treated the child at the scene and transported her to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, where she died Monday afternoon.
  • Guardia Urbana’s Central Traffic Investigation Unit (UCAT) prepared the atestado, and Emergency Medical System (SEM) crews responded at the scene.
