Overview

• The crash occurred around 10:14 p.m. Saturday on the 4100 block of 56th Avenue near Annapolis Road.
• Eleven people were hurt, including seven children ages roughly 2 to 9, with a teenage girl and an infant in critical condition.
• All seven children were taken to Children’s National Hospital, and other patients were transported to Capital Regional Medical Center and Howard University Hospital.
• Police say the driver ran off on foot and remains unidentified, and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
• Annapolis Road was closed between 57th Avenue and Landover Road during the response, and authorities asked witnesses to contact Bladensburg Police detectives.
