Overview

• The London Fire Brigade was called at about 4:30am to a two-storey terraced shop on Penge High Street.
• Fifteen engines and roughly 100 firefighters are on scene, with a large part of the ground floor alight.
• Crews were mobilised from Beckenham, Forest Hill, Woodside, West Norwood and other nearby stations.
• Residents have been told to keep windows and doors closed as heavy smoke drifts over the area.
• Penge High Street is closed with significant traffic disruption, and the cause remains unknown pending investigation.
