The victim, Keith 'KJ' Frierson, was outside riding his new Christmas bike when the incident occurred.
The shooter's father, Arkete Davis, a felon legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm, was arrested on suspicion of crimes including carrying a stolen, loaded firearm in a vehicle, child endangerment, and being an accessory to a crime after the fact.
Davis is suspected of trying to dispose of the gun in a nearby trash can after the shooting.
