$1 Billion Bloomberg Donation Makes Johns Hopkins Medical School Tuition-Free for Most

Starting this fall, the gift will cover tuition and living expenses for students from families earning less than $175,000, with tuition-only coverage for those earning up to $300,000.

The donation aims to address the shortage of healthcare professionals and declining U.S. life expectancy.
Nearly two-thirds of current and future medical students at Johns Hopkins will benefit from the financial aid.
The gift also increases financial aid for students in nursing, public health, and other graduate programs.
Johns Hopkins joins other institutions like NYU and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in offering tuition-free medical education.
Bloomberg previously donated $1.8 billion to Johns Hopkins in 2018 for undergraduate financial aid.
