Huliaipole (Ukrainian: Гуляйполе [ɦʊlʲɐjˈpɔle]; lit. 'walk-about field') is a city in Polohy Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine. It is known as the birthplace of Ukrainian anarchist revolutionary Nestor Makhno. In 2021, it had a population of 12,786 (2022 est.) Huliaipole was attacked by Russian forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and sustained heavy damage, placing it on one of the lines of contact between Ukrainian and Russian-occupied territory.
