Michael Francis Middleton is a British businessman. He is the father of Catherine, Princess of Wales, Philippa Matthews and James Middleton.
Born in Leeds, Middleton was educated at the University of Surrey. He joined British Airways and worked as a flight dispatcher. In 1980, he married Carole Goldsmith, who founded Party Pieces, a mail-order party supply company. Middleton joined his wife at the company in 1989.
