Aharon Yariv was a Russian-born Israeli politician and general. During his military career, he was the first chief of the IDF Command and Staff College, Chief of Staff of the Central Military District, commander of the Golani Brigade, and from 1964 to 1972 Head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, playing a significant role in the preparation of the Six-Day War.
