Sylvenstein Dam is an earthen and rockfilled embankment dam in the Isar valley, in the alpine part of Upper Bavaria, Germany which impounds the multipurpose Sylvenstein Reservoir. It was built with the primary aim of flood protection for the region. From Wikipedia
