Dharmaśāstra are Sanskrit Puranic Smriti texts on law and conduct, and refer to treatises on Dharma. Like Dharmasūtra which are based upon Vedas, these texts are also elaborate law commentaries based on vedas, Dharmashastra themselves evolved from dharmshutra. From Wikipedia
