Syed Ali Shah Geelani was an Islamist leader active in separatist insurgency of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A pro-Pakistan separatist, he is regarded as the father of the Kashmir resistance movement.
He was a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir since 1953, and was regarded as one of its most significant leaders. From Wikipedia
