Secrets & Lies is a 1996 comedy-drama film written and directed by Mike Leigh. Led by an ensemble cast consisting of many Leigh regulars, it focuses on a dynsfunctional family whose relations are thrown into chaos after one of them, portrayed by Brenda Blethyn, is contacted by a young woman played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste, her daughter abandonned at birth who wishes to connect with her birth mother.
