KNDS France is a French government-owned weapons manufacturer, based in Versailles. The company was wholly government-owned as GIAT from 1991 to 2006 and as Nexter from 2006 to 2015, when it merged with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann to form KNDS: a single company jointly owned, via holding companies, by the French state and the private owners of KMW.
