Bougainvillea is a genus of thorny ornamental vines, bushes, and trees belonging to the family, Nyctaginaceae. They are native to Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, and Argentina. There are between 4 and 22 species in the genus. From Wikipedia
