Chantal Anne Akerman was a Belgian film director, screenwriter, artist, and film professor at the City College of New York. Akerman is best known for her films Je Tu Il Elle, Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, and News from Home.
