He has won the Academy Award for Best Actor twice, for his portrayal of Władysław Szpilman in Roman Polanski's war drama The Pianist, and László Tóth, a Holocaust survivor in Brady Corbet's epic period drama film The Brutalist; the former made him the youngest winner in the category, at age 29.
