On 4 February 2025, United States President Donald Trump declared his intent for the U.S. to take over administrative control of the Gaza Strip. The proposal was made during a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian militants. Trump expressed his vision to re-develop the territory into the "Riviera of the Middle East". The plan would call for the forced displacement of approximately 2 million Palestinians to neighboring lands.
