Collins is the current United States Taxpayer Advocate, and head of the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate, an independent organization within the Internal Revenue Service established to protect taxpayers’ rights under the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, help taxpayers resolve problems with the IRS, and recommend changes that will prevent the problems.
