James J. Mingus is a United States Army general who has served as the vice chief of staff of the Army since 2024. He was previously the director of the Joint Staff from 2022 to 2024, director for operations of the Joint Staff from 2020 to 2022, and commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division from 2018 to 2020.
