AI-powered News Platform Particle announces The Observer as first UK partner

Particle today announces a new partnership with The Observer – making it the AI-powered news platform’s first UK partner.

The world’s oldest Sunday newspaper transferred to new owners Tortoise Media in April this year, launching its first standalone website, with new digital properties including apps set to launch later in the year.

The partnership between The Observer and Particle demonstrates The Observer’s commitment, under its new ownership, to innovate and embrace new media technologies to expand the reach of its award-winning journalism digitally to new audiences.

Observer journalism will be included in Particle News overviews, which are created by summarizing reporting on news stories and current events, with users also able to deep dive and read Observer pieces natively within the Particle app.

Since launching in the U.S. App Store in November 2024, Particle is now available globally. Particle partners with major publishers including TIME, The Los Angeles Times, Fortune, and – most recently – The Atlantic. This new partnership with The Observer signals the company’s focus on expanding readership in the UK and beyond by partnering with leading international publishers.

Alice Sandelson, Strategic Partnerships Director, The Observer said "We are delighted to be Particle’s first UK partner. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to finding innovative ways to bring Observer journalism to new digital audiences. The Particle team has built an innovative news product, and we are excited for readers to have more ways to access the Observer’s quality journalism across news, investigations, culture and style."

“Particle is committed to providing our users with the highest quality information by working with trusted publications, so we are grateful to have The Observer as our first UK partner," Sara Beykpour, Particle’s co-founder and CEO, said. "With The Observer, we are continuing to innovate news consumption, leveraging the power of AI in a way that works for publishers, journalists, and readers."
