Sony Lifts Regional Locks on Four Major PlayStation Games on PC

The change addresses criticism of last year’s mandatory PSN sign-in policy by making top PlayStation ports available worldwide.

Overview

  • Sony removed region restrictions on God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Helldivers 2 on Steam.
  • Players in countries without PlayStation Network access can now purchase and play these titles on PC.
  • The reversal follows last year’s uproar and review-bombing over Helldivers 2’s PSN sign-in requirement and its delisting from 177 regions.
  • In January, Sony made PSN accounts optional for Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
  • PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst said the company is taking a deliberate, measured approach to bringing its franchises to other platforms.
