Overview

  • Jensen Huang toured London, Paris and Berlin to promote sovereign AI, pledging Nvidia will invest billions while urging Europe to build its own AI infrastructure rapidly.
  • UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a £1 billion fund to boost domestic computing power and shift the country from being an AI taker to an AI maker.
  • The European Union unveiled a $20 billion scheme to build four AI gigafactories and is coordinating with Nvidia to allocate chip production within the bloc.
  • Collaborations with Mistral AI in France and Deutsche Telekom in Germany will establish new AI data centres powered by Nvidia GPUs, starting with an initial deployment of 18,000 chips.
  • Europe faces high electricity costs and a funding shortfall compared to U.S. hyperscalers, which could strain efforts to scale regional AI operations.
